POSITION AVAILABLE: FULL-TIME CHIEF OPERATOR
The BCPUD is seeking to hire a full-time Chief Operator (water and wastewater) with the precise timing of this hiring somewhat uncertain in light of fluctuating state COVID-19 orders. Interested candidates must possess and maintain at least Grade 2 Water Treatment and Grade 2 Water Distribution certifications, or the ability to attain such certifications within 12 months of employment, or as soon as required by the BCPUD and/or the State Water Resources Control Board. In addition, interested candidates must possess and maintain at least a Grade 1 Wastewater Treatment certification and at least a Grade 1 Wastewater Collection System certification, or the ability to attain such certifications within 12 months of employment, or as soon as required by the BCPUD and/or the Regional Water Quality Control Board. The schedule for this non-exempt position is 40 hours per week (including rotating and/or regularly scheduled weekend shifts), plus rotating weekday/evening stand-by shifts. Stand-by shift pay (currently $57.00 per shift) and overtime compensation in accordance with California state law also will be paid. Compensation includes an hourly starting rate of pay of $30 – $45 per hour (which is equivalent to $62,400 – $93,600 (gross), negotiable based on experience, certifications and qualifications, plus a full benefits package, including paid vacation, paid holidays, paid sick leave, eligibility to participate in the district’s retirement and deferred compensation plans, and medical and dental insurance for the employee (fully paid by the BCPUD for the employee, 50% paid by the BCPUD for employee’s dependents), all as allowed by the terms and conditions of the applicable policies and plans. Interested candidates must have a valid California driver’s license, a clean DMV record, a social security number and a demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and constructively with others, as well as independently. Finally, interested candidates must be able to respond to emergencies 24/7 within 15 minutes of notification; as such, candidates must reside within 15 minutes’ response time of the jurisdictional boundaries of the BCPUD.
