Project Title:    Water Treatment Facilities Improvements –
Control of Chlorine Disinfection Byproducts

Project Location:    Woodrat Water Treatment Plant, 400 Mesa Road, Bolinas, California, Marin County

Project Description:    Improving existing water treatment facilities for the domestic drinking water supply providing to the town of Bolinas by the Bolinas Community Public Utility District (“BCPUD”).  The California Department of Public Health (“DPH”) is mandating that BCPUD reduce the amount of disinfection byproducts in BCPUD’s treatment process of drinking water.  BCPUD will meet the DPH requirement by adding granular activated carbon filers and coagulant feed equipment to BCPUD’s water treatment plant.

Reason for Categorical Exemption:

The project is categorically exempt under CEQA Article 19 Categorical Exemption 15301(b) – Existing Facilities.  This project undertakes no expansion of use by BCPUD in providing domestic drinking water to the town of Bolinas.  The project involves only minor alteration to existing mechanical equipment.
