BCPUD Operation of Microfiltration Facility

On August 16, 1996, Bolinas Community Public Utility District began full-time operation of a new water treatment plant.  Filtration technology is provided by Memtec, a division of U.S. Filter, and a world leader in microfiltration applications. Microfiltration forces the raw water through extremely fine mesh which results in total removal of bacteria as well as cryptosporidium and giardia. Use of this process also significantly reduces the need for chemical treatment.
